چکیده
We present a new method for the classification of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) forest plots based on discriminant and frequency analysis. This can be used as tool to allow experts stratify forests in simple precise way. The is analysis with cross-validation 13 variables measured 142 from 2005 Second National Forest Inventory 63 an inventory installed specific locations together qualifying variables. In first stage, uses results fitted iterative that allows improving subsequent classifications taking into account correctly- wrong-classified plots. applied Burgos (Spain) where six structural groups were described. functions show structure depends basically diameter distribution almost 94% are correctly classified using this methodology. high level assigned indicates accurate only at breast height measurement.

Studies on European beech (Fagus sylvatica L
Colour parameters of European beech were measured using CIELab system. 103 logs from 87 trees in 9 sites were cut into boards to study the variations of wood colour parameters. Both site and tree effect on colour were observed. Patterns of red heartwood occurrence were defined. When excepting red heartwood there was still a highly significant effect of site and tree; differences remained after ...

Beech-forests (Fagus sylvatica L.) represent the natural vegetation cover for the majority of sites in Germany. Although coniferous forests actually dominate, beech is the most important among the deciduous tree-species in Germany, when considering the area and the economics. While the wood of the younger beech normally shows a whitish colour (white beech), the timber of older beech may form co...

11 12 The objective of this study was to assess the utility of hyperspectral data in 13 estimating and mapping forest structural parameters including mean diameter-at14 breast-height (DBH), mean tree height and tree density of a closed canopy beech 15 forest (Fagus sylvatica L). Airborne HyMap images and data on forest structural 16 attributes were collected from the Majella National Park, Ital...
متن کاملLong-range transport of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) pollen to Catalonia (north-eastern Spain).
Local and long-range transport of beech (Fagus sylvatica) pollen was analysed by using 23-year data (1983-2007) at six stations in Catalonia, Spain, and numerical simulations. Back trajectories and synoptic meteorology indicated a consistent north European provenance during beech pollen peak days. Specifically, the area from northern Italy to central Germany was the most probable source, as ind...
متن کاملResilient Leaf Physiological Response of European Beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) to Summer Drought and Drought Release
Drought is a major environmental constraint to trees, causing severe stress and thus adversely affecting their functional integrity. European beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) is a key species in mesic forests that is commonly expected to suffer in a future climate with more intense and frequent droughts. Here, we assessed the seasonal response of leaf physiological characteristics of beech saplings t...
